We are very pleased to welcome you to the 28th Joint Glycobiology Meeting (JGM) in Aachen on September 17-19th, 2017!
The aim of the Joint Glycobiology Meetings is the scientific exchange of the working groups on the field of glycobiology. The program will have five sessions with following topics: “Glycans and lectins in cell biology”, “Glycans and lectins in host pathogen interaction”, “Carbohydrate-active enzymes”, “Glycomics and glyco-analytics” and “Glycobiotechnology”. Each session will be introduced by a key note lecture of invited speakers. The Joint Glycobiology Meeting wants to give young glycobiology researchers the opportunity to show their scientific results in oral or poster presentations. Therefore, the main part of speakers will be PhD students and Post-Docs. Furthermore, there will be enough time for discussions during the poster sessions. The symposium will have a small social program (get-together, city tour, conference dinner) for further net-working.
The JGM is alternately organized by the glyco-working groups of the four countries Belgium, Netherlands, France and Germany. This year, it will take place in Aachen (or Aix-la-Chapelle), the westernmost city in Germany, located near the borders of Belgium and the Netherlands. It is a city with long history: nowadays famous as former preferred residence of Charlemagne. Since 1950, Aachen annually awards the Charlemagne Prize (Karlspreis) to personalities of outstanding service to the unification of Europe. But also for non-history fans, the university town has much to offer, just come and see! Finally, an idea for a “sweet” souvenir: the famous biscuits, called “Aachener Printen”.We hope to welcome you in Aachen in September 2017.
